One of my very good friend came to visit me in Beijing and we went to the Salt. I have been many times to this restaurant and I liked the place until this evening. The dinner went well but when came the moment to pay, the young lady in charge of the payment ("Wendy") asked me to key in my... More

While sitting outside on a lovely evening our group had a great evening. The dishes were small in quantity and average in taste. Wine was great and service was excellent.

Dear AustraliaMonty, Thank you for your review and you positive comments about our service and wine at SALT. I am sorry to hear that you found the taste and portions not to your liking. Most customers find our prix-fixe 2 and 3 course menus quite filling as we serve 180g of protein in all of our mains alone, which is... More

My husband and I went to SALT for a romantic dinner and when our starter came in my scallops were frozen in the middle, so I complaint and got another portion that was very tasteless. I ordered venison for main course and got served under cooked pork!! When I asked them wich animal i just got served, the waiter told... More

Dear Sofiaryding, once again, everyone at SALT offers our sincere apologies that you were unhappy with your experience. As you know, we phoned our venison supplier immediately to triple confirm the meat was venison (he only supplies from one organic venison farm, that is his entire business). He did confirm and explained that the age of venison can differ the... More

Expectations set the context for any dining experience so it is worth being clear on what SALT offers. A little out of the centre of things in residential Lido, SALT is an entrepreneur owned and managed restaurant that offers very good value for money in a comfortable setting with surprisingly delicate food, using excellent ingredients. Owner Gaby Alves cares about... More

Went there recently for restaurant week, and wish I hadn't make the trek. It was near empty, which should have warned us what we were in for. The starters were overly ambitious, and didn't work at all, and reminded us of someone who'd watched too many episodes of Masterchef and then tried at home to include everything on the plate.... Dear tsferguson - thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had a less-than-perfect experience at SALT as we pride ourselves on excellence. We were very busy each night during Restaurant Week and have a strict policy that if we are not full, never to seat tables next to each other. We received great reviews from... More

At some point, regardless of how seasoned you are at travelling, you'll crave western food, familiarity and service - and you won't go far wrong in Salt! Set above a sports bar, which is a bit strange but turns out lovely place to go for beers after...Salt is for Beijing fantastic value and really great food and service. But if... More

First of all I rate SALT as very good in comparison to other eateries in China. if compared to eateries worldwide it would just be average. I always get a decent meal and service at SALT when passing through Beijing, although their cuts of meat are for me just very average and what I can buy at the local grocer... More

Dear Jeff-Xiamen - thank you for you feedback and review. We source most of our produce locally, as we believe strongly in supporting the local economy. We do endeavour to provide the best in the market at all times. In terms of tipping, it is optional at SALT. While we pay our staff above local wages, we also believe that,... More

Dear dlyork77 - thank you for your great review - you are correct - bringing delicious fresh and organic ingredients and a diverse wine and drinks list does cost a little more, but we also believe it is worth it. Hope to see you again soon at SALT. More

I go to SALT at least once a month, more of possible. Gaby and her team have built a restaurant and an experience that is not to be missed. Wide variety on a menu that is regularly changed and refreshed, probably some of the best service in Beijing, good wine choice and no sharp intake of breath when the bill... More
