I think the big problem is nobody know it's exact price, I read many reviews here and other forums, different persons had different exeripences. They don't show a clear manual to you and let you know how much your food is. I went there myself, I spent 187000VND there, one coca cola included. I think it expensive compare with other... More

The last time I had my lunch here changed all my views about this restaurant. For about 7$ will will have nothing for your lunch. What can this be enough for foreigners if it's even not enough for me - a Vietnamese girl? And the staff served me like I was bothering her. I realize that some foreign travellers do... More

Cha Ca La Vong is a hundred year old restaurant that has been serving the same dish from the start. The dish consists of pre-fried river fish simmered together with a variety of local vegetables, in what is rumored to be dog fat. Despite being extremely oily, the dish was decently tasty and different from anything else my friends and... More

The fish given was very little.. Around 20 small bite sized pieces for 3 pax. Each person was charged 170,000 dong which was very expensive given the amount of fish served. We noticed that the locals eating at the restaurant seemed to be automatically served additional portions of fish. However we were told we had to pay for an extra... More

Cha Ca is fantastic! This restaurant serves one dish and one dish only so for travelers who can't speak Vietnamese, no worries there! The ingredients seem so basic, the method seems so simple but yet, the outcome is absolutely delicious. Grilled fish in herbs and spices before frying them together with a bed of spring onions, dill and other greens.... More

Before we visited the restaurant we read the reviews on TA and I have to say, I've never seen a restaurant with so balanced reviews across the board. We decided to try it out due to its long history, we figured there must be something special about it. as soon as we sat down, the waiter placed a card on... More

Don't go here if you want choice or an extensive drinks menu or western options. Do go here if you want to experience something different and mix with locals. Apparently the fish comes from the one river which is the only one which flows from Vietnam to China (no idea if this is true or not!). There is only one... More

Definitely worth a trip to this very old restaurant that only does the one dish. Wonderful splashes of emerald green walls with good local beer and delicious fish with dill.

I had a good meal at this same place about a year back.. Heading back a 2nd time with my husband was a total disappointment. The price has increased, the amount of fish slices per person has decreased ..and the taste is somewhat lacking now. I doubt I will make a 3rd trip. Was good while it lasted I supposed..

It seems this restaurant are relying on their good reputation with Tripadvisor/Lonely Planet. They specialise in just one dish - there's no menu except for drinks and prices were ridiculous for a local restaurant - 170k per person. Fish was pre-cooked. Staff were disinterested and service poor. Food undoubtedly tasty but my advice is to find somewhere else that serves... More
