If you like clam chowder, theirs is famous for being very different. If you order it in the sour dough bowl, you'll both go home stuffed and happy.
I was sorry to read the review of alex28 about getting food poisoning at the Old Port Inn. The Old Port is frequented by locals and their guests and I have heard nothing bad about the place. I have been there twice and discuss the restaurant and recommend it frequently. They have great views of the ocean. Actually it is... More
My wife and her 74-year-old mother had the seafood basket and came down with severe food poisoning. For two days they suffered vomiting and diarrhoea and it took them a full week to recover. We rang the restaurant and spoke to Max so that more customers would not suffer the fate. Later I emailed them to see if they were... More

Located at the end of an old pier, this restaurant was a highlight of our trip. Beautiful, almost 360 degree view of the bay and the beaches. Get a table with glass top that opens down to the water below. We ordered sanddabs and steak and both were delicious.
Great ambience, great seafood, friendly service, good wine list, a perfect Pacific Ocean experience... Will return for sure..

We shared a bottle of local wine and each had different seafood. No one was disappointed. I had Halibut served picante style. It... More
We had a nice meal there that good but we loved the scenery and atmosphere more than anything. I would recommend going out to the Olde Port Inn at least once during your stay in Avila Beach or if you are in the area.
My memories of the OPI were from the mid-80's and my college sweetheart (Cal Poly student) took me there for our 2 yr. (1st date) anniversary. Maybe my memories were colored by young love and maybe by a few first - legal ;-)) drinks, but boy, has it changed! We thought of it as very "swanky" place back then! Nothing... More
