A bit pricy, but good food and wine in a comfortable atmosphere. Happy to find something good open in this part of town on Sunday evening!
Sonoma is wonderfully situated for a pre-show meal before the Folger Shakespeare Theater, which is about two blocks away. The food is fun and tasty, and the staff accommodating. Most recently we split a mushroom burger (vegetarian) and they were nice enough to serve it on two plates (we weren't being too healthy as we got it with fries.) The... More
Yesterday we had a nice meal. The evening was spoiled by a blowing airco. We asked several times tot turn it down: that worked for ten minuts.
I guess they have a reason to be proud. This place has very nice food, the atmosphere is the most lush on this side of Capitol Hill and the staff are very knowledgeable about their product. But sometimes my guests and I are greeted as one would an unwanted piece of toilet paper stuck to one's shoe. They've certainly gotten... More
I have dined at Sonoma on Capitol Hill several times over the last couple of years. The quality of food and presentation have been consistently terrific and I have also greatly appreciated the staff's help in selecting a good glass of wine to accompany my meal, since I am not particularly versed in that arena. Waitstaff was so helpful in guiding us in our food choices and she was right on the mark with her suggestions. We ordered a selection of small plates and each was better than the last. Cozy, excellent food, great service - what else could one want.
. . . and it is the brigade of Sonoma, cheering us up on a visit there this week. We had a very nice light lunch there, and loved both the small plates and the pasta. The grilled ocotopus texture was perfect and the spicy sauce just right; the grilled artichokes were drizzled with a lovely vinaigrette The big raviolis... More
A great little restaurant on Pennsylvania SE between 2nd and 3rd--a mecca for small restaurants. Convenient for tourists to the Capitol and the Library of Congress which are 2 and 1 blocks away respectively. It's also popular with workers on the Hill. Since it touts itself as a wine bar restaurant, you can sit at the long bar for a... More
Loved the place n the food. It was happy hour and it made us really happy. You may choose between small or large portions. Music was good too, great mix of old and new
