I think its one of the best place in Kaunas - nice food, very good service. Just one remark - prices are also high level .
Restaurant Senieji Rusiai should not be confused with Russian cuisine as Rusiai is for "cellar". First we thought of taking cepelinas, but it seems no decent restaurant in the whole Lithuania has them on the menu. We took stake, me and my partner both, two different ones. With both we had to be careful of not swallowing our tongues. The... More
You have two choices of where to eat. Inside is in a windowless basement. It is very nice down there, but rather dark. On a nice day, however, you can eat outside. As this is on a main street, it is great place to enjoy the local atmosphere. Food was good and not too expensive. Overall, a very nice meal.
We had quail for a starter. Interesting and tasteful! I had deer loin for the main course. It was excellent! Dessert was a bit disappointing and the service was nice but extremely slow (and not many guests), this took almost 3 hours, maybe the football on the tellie was to blame? As good as you will get in Kaunus. Not a great city to eat out in. European food is basic and quality is average. Try to avoid steak of if you really wish to have one then ask to see it before cooking - then judge for yourself.
I had such a pleasant experience at the Senieji Rusiai! The food is simply divine and the service was very courteous! The atmosphere of the restaurant was extremely romantic. I highly recommend it for couples. It is truly the BEST restaurant in Kaunas!
This place delivers on all fronts. The food is not excellent but good enough to have an enjoyable meal. The fried bread with garlic and cheese ate absolutely delicious. The people were very friendly and had a nice outdoor sitting area.
I do not suggest to visit this place for my business partners and friends
Excellent food, a great Belgium beer in a gold rimmed bowl (dark Grimbergen), very attentive service, and live music, best smoked salmon starter I've had followed by tasty perch in a broth, what more could you ask for, it's all there!
I first visited the Senieji in November, and it was the first place I wanted to eat when I returned to Kaunas in February. The service is always friendly and polite, if perhaps just a little slow. But oh, if it takes them a few more minutes to make that chicken liver pate, I can wait! Just be specific about... More
