Small restaurant with attention to detail. Extras like vegetables included in the price. Good selection on the menu and a wine list to match. Great views over the harbour. The drive to get there is the only drawback for us. We'll be back though.

If you visit Whangarei, then you should definitely eat at Top Sail. The food was absolutely fantastic, as was the service. Try to get a window seat and watch the sunset - fabulous!!

This restaurant is not the greatest in terms of access and appearance ( you need to climb steep stairs and the entrance is by the kitchen) but it terms of the food quality and views is great. Glorious fresh local food imaginatively presented, promptly served, with great wine. Friendly, hospitable hostess and staff... in a location that is restful and relaxing. Has been reliable and consistent for years. Whangarei's best.
