Decent food and desert but if you are going to go here you might as well go another block to Fiddlesticks.

We decided to try this place for our anniversary and a what a bad error of judgement that was. We got seated right at the back which didnt really like and we asked to be moved but was told no as they were full, even though when we went to leave there were still plenty of tables. Our original waiter...

Your visit starts with the Astro lounge in the back, we visited this fun bar several times for drinks and snacks, fun, comfortable and friendly staff.. The main restaurant is small but comfortable. Again the staff was friendly, gave good suggestions on what to eat. The food was wonderful. My husband ordered his beef medium well and this was appear...

We heard about the Astro Lounge that is out back, behind the restaurant, so we went there, and have not been to the main restaurant. It's a cozy little backyard hideaway that's great for those on vacation (or just playing hooky from work) to visit in the afternoon and sip wine, beer, or cider whilst relaxing on couches and listening...

I used to love this place, really I did, after last night we wont be back.......
The Good: the wine, the Paris Brest dessert and the one female waitress working that night who was professional and courteous.
The Disappointing: $38 for 150g of beef fillet, seriously? That's two slices, including one dry end of the fillet, not sure where the...

Considering that...

Food is always exceptional, I've eaten here several times and neither myself or my fellow diners have been disappointed. Astro Bar out the back is the perfect place for pre or post dinner drinks. Definitely one of the best places to eat out in Christchurch.
Second night in Christchurch. (4th) Service quite good. Food a little limited but good. Shame about being sat next to a fridge that was in constant use! Good atmoshphere overall with a retro decor.
These guys have it all - a varied menu and an extensive list of very good wines. The mixed grill of beef and lamb was outstanding, as was the duck that my sweet little wife had.
I sincerely hope that our less than pleasant dining experience was due to the large number of parties that were present on the night we elected to dine here. The lamb was woefully undercooked and not rested - a very unappetising dish with the vegetables (what there was) drowning in blood. Although the pork was edible it certainly did not...
