Located on the main street - one should think that it's a tourist trap. Well - It is full with tourists - but for good reasons. Lovely staff. Great food - Italian style. Try the Lobster pasta - the sauce is very tasty.

Costabella was recommended for the tiramisu and it did not disappoint. The goulash soup was very tasty. The cheese and cured meat platter was a great sharing plate. The weiner schnitzel was bland. But definitely go for the tiramisu.
The wine was good.The risotto and Schnitzel were fine but the majority of our party was disappointed. The chicken curry was not good.The spareribs were dry. The staff was friendly but unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations.
We dined at Costabella specifically because we wanted something more cozy than the hotel restaurants in the area. We enjoyed fresh, well prepared Tyrolean specialties and great wine based on the our waitress' recommendation. In fact, we enjoyed our meal so much that we went back again two days later and had a similar experience.
The restaurant coped with 15 of us admirably. Wine flowed freely and guests shared dishes. Wonderful value and friendly service.
Most of the restaurants in Val Gardena serve some variation on South Tyrolean cooking. Which is perfectly eatable, often even quite enjoyable. But if you're looking for something slightly more personal, it's difficult to find reliable advice on the web. And when we asked at our hotel they did not really get what we were looking for but directed us...
