We stumbled upon Il Mulattiere whilst discovering the beautiful Old Town. It was 14.30 and according to the sign they were closing at 15.00 but when we asked if we could eat the staff was more than happy to accommodate us- points on entry already! The waiter, an older Italian man, was funny and friendly without being too chatty, if... More

We loved this restaurant and ate here twice on our visit to San Remo. It is authentic Italian cooking in a quirky environment. The old town is a bit scary to get to and we certainly got a move on when we came out at night! But, this adds to the excitement of the place. We had great pasta dishes... More

A little restaurant situated in the narrow alleys of the old town San Remo. It seems to be run by three women, which we presumed belonged to the same family. The place was really cramped inside and the decor was somewhat eccentric, but these features just added to the charm of the place. The food was tasty, with a homely... More

Was nice food but nothing special. Having said that, nice, attentive service, not expensive. Right in the middle of the old part of town.

We really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. The food isn't really gourmet / fine dining kind of food but I commented to my girlfriend that "If I had an Italian Nan, this is what I'd expect her cooking to be like!" - It's nice, homely, comforting, flavoursome food. Served by friendly staff who tried their best to speak in... More

Ate here twice. First for lunch on a miserable wet day. I had the 10 euro lunch menu that consisted of a huge plate of superb Ligurian antipasti followed by Ligurian style Minestrone - a funny combination but it was a miserable day and I needed warming up. Partner had seafood pasta. 1/2 litre and 1/4 litre of house rose.... More

This restaurant is not out to attract tourists, but local people after good value, down to earth food! We were so glad we found it after first looking in the wrong end of the old town. We visited on a Tuesday (market day) lunch time and received a fantastic welcome with excellent food. There are plenty of tourist type restaurants... More

Do not expect anything fancy...the place is hard to find (wonder a little while in the old town and you should manage to find it...) The cuisine is simple but really tasty. You go there for the atmosphere: an old house filled with different traditional objects and "curiosités". We had been there 4 years ago and wanted to experience it... More

This is probably the worst place to eat in whole San Remo. No family restaurant at all!! It's a big fraud don't go there everything is microwave cooked or from cans. We refused to pay full price.

Read about this in Fred Plotkin's book on Italy. In San Remo for a few hours from Cannes and decided we wanted a real, authentic italian meal. This is the place! Family run, small and in the old city. Great starter of fried seafood in the Ligurian style. We followed with Ligurian ravioli and gnocchi with pesto. Plenty of red... More
