Description: Nestled in the heart of the New Forest inside the Careys Manor Hotel, Le Blaireau is a bijou French restaurant with oodles of Gallic charm that attracts romantical mini-breakers and steak-frites-loving locals alike. Open all day for croissant and coffee style breakfasts to three course meals in the evening, Le Blaireaus al fresco terrace is a popular spot during summer, and the restaurant also boasts a private dining room La Rue which is themed to look like a cobblestoned Parisian street making it a perfect place for French dinner parties. Highlights from the menu include the poached pear salad with Roquefort cheese and walnuts; the burgundy snails cooked in garlic butter; and the beef Bourguignon with mashed potato.

As my partner had been here many years ago, we came for a lunchtime drink and booked into the restaurant for dinner the same evening. It was so good to sit in the middle of the New Forest yet feel we were in France. I loved the decor with the 'crashed' 2CV and the 'Cafe de la Paix'. The food... More

My son and I re-visited Le Blaireau, having not been for a few years. I always remembered that it was expensive, and it still is, but it has a nice French atmosphere. I had the Normandy Fish Soup, followed by Sea Bass with Lobster & Brandy Sauce. Both were very good. My son had Broccoli & Blue Cheese Soup, followed... More

Perfectly set out like the sort of bistro you'd find in the south of France, we came upon this little restaurant one evening last week. Good choice of authentic french cuisine and great service. The duck confit salad was delicious and the tarte tatin is most definately the best I've ever tried. Will certainly be returning.

6 of us were enjoying a spa break at Carey's Manor and opted to eat here even though it looked a little pricey. We were so glad we did, the service was excellent very friendly and helpful explaining dishes in more detail. 3 of us opted for twice baked cheese soufflé which was to die for. The fish soup I'm... We had dinner at Le Blaireau, the food was excellent, I had duck which was beautifully cooked. Side dish was a mouth-watering gratin dauphinois. Dessert was a selection of mini French pastries served with a coffee. Service was excellent, a great experience in the New Forest.

I have long been haunted by my intention to write this review for Le Blareau. All the worse to have left it so long because, knowing that excellent reviews are the very best form of thanks for an establishment, I hadn't even written them a thank you letter. And before I go any further I have to say that they... More

I stayed at Carey's Manor and decided to dine on the first night at Le Blaireau, it was so good that I dined there each night for the rest of my stay. The food is excellent, lovely variety of dishes and the Cornish clotted Ice cream and Kirsh cherries dessert is to die for. The warm and friendly but efficient... More

Great Food, Great Service, Great Price...what more could you ask for. Only downside is they do not serve all the wines on the list per glass. Minimum purchase of 1 bottle

We have just returned from yet another splendid meal at Le Blaireau. We have been eating there for some time and are always happy to return for a celebration or just a quick but excellent coffee. The service is friendly but unobtrusive and the ambiance as authentic as you can get this side of the English Channel.
