Lovely cosy little corner of town. Nice selection of wines, beers and ciders and amazing cheese and tapas boards!
I can remember Jules setting up in a tiny boutique cafe not too many years ago, how much has changed in those few years. The Old Courthouse has evolved into the place to take coffee by day or fine wine by night. Forever busy with a fantastic atmosphere two things are guaranteed… You will leave happy and you will leave... More
Absolutely amazing gem. I visited with my partner, and we ordered a double platter. We struggled to eat it all, but the very kind manager wrapped our leftovers up for us to take back with us!! Lovely atmosphere, and the staff are superb and incredibly helpful too! We shall definitely be returning!
Giving up on somewhere to have dinner in a tired town full of charity shops, we cut down a back street to return to the hotel... and came across this excellent find. We aked if they had availability and they confirmed, although the table would need to be vacated by 1845 (we arrived 1730), and we agreed that would be... More
Whilst staying in Buxton for the weekend we were looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch and this place sounded perfect. We were a party of six and we shared three platters of meat & cheese between us and we found it to be excellent . We got a selection of cold meats and cheeses with chutney, olives and warm rosemary... More
We have been in here several times and enjoyed it. However we never see the owner anymore? Where has he disappeared to? People like to see a business succeed and its nice to see the owner not just staff he employs all the time. If this carries on people will get fed up and drink elsewhere Wake up as there... More
If you are looking for a Pre-Theatre meeting place to have a drink and a bite to eat this is the place to go. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and a sharing platter to die for. They do not do hot food but instead for £7.50 (individual) they do a platter of either cheese or meats or you can have a... More
The wines on offer here are good value. We'd had a meal but had to vacate our table and so went for a drink here to pass some time. I can't comment on the food but as a place to go before or after a meal or show at the Opera House this is as good as any though it... More
Love this place! The meat/cheese platters are delicious with generous portions and good advice on which drinks match the food. Chilled out vibe and friendly staff (especially Julian). Funky interior, comfy chairs.... seriously what more do you need? Best place in Buxtonia.
This place has excellent service, wine, beer and despite a limited and simple food menu it is good value for money and tasty. It is a wine bar not a restaurant and hence food is limited to cheese, meat or mixed platters but they are good value and enjoyable.
