A quirky cosy cafe- great for coffee cake and snacks. I liked the paninis cookie and coffee I has. Good friendly and efficient service
Came in on a drizzly day based on reviews. Very cramped space with little room to maneuver into/out of your coat (no, we're not particularly large people, and larger folks would have an even harder time) but cute, quirky decor and a kitschy selection of seating. Coffee was only ok. Food is all pre-made, so no customization is possible. Prices... More
Stopped by for a light lunch having read several good reviews. Were more than happy to be guinea-pigs and test the delicious white chocolate cake - excellent!! Don't miss this place for something different.
This is a belated review - we visited 2 years ago. We landed in Reykjavik at 6 a.m. and had 8 hours to kill before check-in time. Babalu has become a firm favourite, this cosy cafe has some of the best decor in Reykjavík. Whether you're just looking for a little something to satisfy your sweet tooth (seriously good cheesecake) or in the mood for a light lunch Babalu offers it in a relaxing, homely atmosphere. The perfect spot to relax after a busy day.
Loved the place! The head-sized cookies were amazing, as well as the latte. But the best of all was the atmosphere - the decoration, the gentle sound of people tapping their laptops, the little things you find when looking around. Just perfect.
In the main shopping area and tucked away upstairs, this little cafe is well worth a visit. It seems as though you are in the owners home. The cafe is cosy and friendly on a cold Icelandic day.
Cafe Babalu is a funky little cafe upstairs on one of Reykjavik's major (and unpronounceable) streets. Walk upstairs to a small, cozy, quiet cafe, order coffee and dessert and then plan to spend a few minutes or more decompressing from 'the night before'. Babalu's ambiance is so 'homey' that you just want to settle in, check email on your phone/pad/pod... More
