Good food, very nice but little busy owner, moody but alert service. If looking for a restaurant in the neighbourhood a good choice.
We had never been to Amsterdam and it was our first night in. It was a Thursday. We dropped off our bags and hit the streets. We found the high tourist areas immediately and knew we didn't want to eat there for dinner if we could avoid it. We are side street walkers to try to at least a bit... More
We wandered into this lovely little restaurant quite by accident one evening and were very pleasantly surprised. We were met by the owner and shown to our table, past the pianist who was playing that evening. We were warned that the meals take a little longer than usual to arrive as they make all of their pasta by hand when you... More
We tried on recommendation from our hotel and were really pleased by food and service. We were a bit worried that this place was in the really touristy area of Amsterdam, but it did not disappoint. We were met by the Italian owner who found us a prime outside table, who then spoke to the waitress who responded in Italian,... More
I've been here on several occasions so I had an opportunity to try different dishes, always impressed by the quality of ingredients and I never hesitated to try the expensive wines they have to offer. I like the atmosphere and the owner is just too friendly, in general the Italians have the funniest English accent so it's always fun to... More
I wanted a small bite to eat around 10 p.m. in a touristy area - but am a bit particular! As other reviewers say, a surprising discovery in a rather noisy young tourist quarter. It's a matter of personal taste as to whether the over-friendliness of the owner and the good quality jazz musicians (female vocalist) are appropriate but it... More
It's a lovely place right in the center. The owner was very nice and helpful. I would probably try some place new next time I'm in Amsterdam.
The restaurant presented a special offer, which looked so good that I invited my family for a birthday lunch. The hosting staff was very friendly, they even sung for my birthday. The first course (pasta with porcini mushrooms) tasted very good; also the dessert was OK. But the Marsala sauce over the main course (duck breast) was very disappointing. It... More
We had a absolute fantastic meal, with very friendly staff and starting with a warm welcome from the very present owner. There was live music from good musicians, a bit too loud. Strange was the contrast between the authentic Italian food and the (American) jazz music. The dessert was fabulous: tiramisu......
A nice Sicilian runs this small place in the middle of the touristic area. The atmosphere is relaxed, just the live music wasn't necessary, although it were good musicians, but a bit too loud. The decoration is tasteful, the food is good, although I've had better. The pasta was bit too overcooked and could've been more tasteful. The wine was... More
