The food and wine were outstanding, but the service was equally as good. It was the perfect 2.5 hour lunch with friends after walking the beautiful town of Assisi. We could not have been more impressed with the whole afternoon.

We had many memorable meals in Italy, but the show stopper was our dinner at the Locanda del Podesta in Assisi! We had read about the restaurant in one of our guide books and were shocked to find that our family of 4 were the only diners that evening. Our meal was a culinary treat from our appetizers to dessert....

My fiance and i thought that the gnocchi gorgonzola was the best either of us had eaten! It was so fresh and fluffy, and the sauce was amazing! We also managed some lovely lamb cutlets & beautiful house wine- a great great meal and very reasonably priced.
The menu is very limited and the place pretty simple, but the food is tasty and cheap and they have a good wine list. I liked the chef's gnocchi and the fried chicken.
This was recommended to us by our hosts at a Terrazza Del Subasio. In the week we stayed in Assisi, we ate there twice. The food was amazing. The first night I had the pappardelle with wild boar sauce - superb! My husband started with an ice cold beer, which we found rare in Europe, then had the 18E fixed...

We were warmly welcomed into this restaurant as a family of four. The waiter spoke wonderful english and was very helpful and attentive throughout our meal. We had two pastas to share as our starter (the gnocci was a must-have!) and each had a main meat course with sides. The quality of the meat and the richness of seasonings were...

We ate a lot of delicious food in Italy, but Locanda de Podesta sticks out for my husband and me. He started with gnocci with a cream sauce with black truffle, and I had a delicious pasta dish with very fresh black pepper. We shared a main course of Umbrian sausage (yum!) and spinach. The red house wine was quite...

After a long tour of San Francesco Basilica, we were quite hungry and remembered our friend's recommendation that there was a pretty good restaurant up Via S. Giacomo. We walked up slowly to Locanda del Podesta' to be greeted by warm staff. Their food was wonderfully made & delicious. Truly Italiano.
Quaint restaurant away from the crowded main streets and a short walk from San Francesco. The menu degustazione is a great value for 18 Euro and comes with decent portions. I had an incredible tagliata con raddicchio; I had been craving steak after eating so much pasta and it was the best I had on my trips thru Tuscany. Friendly...

Locanda del Podesta' is not only a gourmet experience, but a fun place to enjoy a memorable meal. Chef Stelvio is a young cook who doesn't compromise. Try fettuccine al cinghiale ( wild boar), a house specialty ....but try also the finger licking lamb and wonderful grilled vegetables. My husband and I have been going there since we bought our...
