Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing service, incredibly attentive and polite. Julian was exceptionally knowledgeable about all of the wines, and gave us delicious recommendations. We sat upstairs as it was a quiet after-work drink, and the atmosphere was perfect. Beautifully decorated, and delicious smells coming from the kitchen! Truly...delicious wines, and some of the best olives I’ve ever had as a wee accompaniment. Couldn’t have picked a better spot, and will be back!More

Went here before the Leinster game in the RDS for a glass of wine and coffee. Even though it was only a quick pit stop, the short time we were there was memorable. The service was so welcoming, knowledgable and friendly. Was lovely talking to...the gentlemen in the wine bar and hearing about the experience the restaurant offers upstairs (which we hope to go back for). Looking forward to trying more wines to taste.More

I was here today for a glass of wine with my sister, the background here is my sister has frequented this place for years with her partner a prominent business who lived in ballsbridge and who gave great business to this establishment for years. We...were greeted by the waiter who didn’t seem interested in that we were there. I was looking forward to the experience as I’ve been here before and I have enjoyed my experience on many occasions. Unfortunately on this occasion the experience was soured by the treatment of the waiter who I believe is the owner’s son. My sister first asked for a glass of wine and some cheese and we were told no cheese with the wine and as there were no tables inside we had to sit outside on a miserable day. We knew that the new restaurant was open upstairs and we asked could we see the restaurant and we were told no there prerparing not very good considering how much was given to this restaurant over the years they were in business. I’d have to say the wine that was advised by the waiter was absolutely disgraceful and tasted like vinegar, and we left one glass. When my sister asked the waiter what wine was that he told her and she said I wouldn’t get it again. There was no acknowledgment from the waiter and a very poor service. This restaurant/establishment has been living on its name far too long and thinks it can provide a bad service and bad wine at high prices and get away with it. Luckily enough in Dublin there is far better places. I wouldn’t go back here again.!More

Any time I've visited French Paradox I've had a great experience. The place has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are experts in terms of advice on wine pairings. Feels like you are walking into France!

Catching up with a literary friend, found us at the 'French Paradox', perched at our high table with a bottle of Languedoc, plate of nibbles being attended to by friendly and helpful staff. With the lovely wood decor, beautiful bottles of vino abound an enjoyable...and elegant evening was had.More

Had dinner at the French Paradox Wine Bar based on a recommendation from an Irish friend. And it turned out to be just right. Small and stylish bar/restaurant with a very authentic French atmosphere in a nice residential part of the city. Excellent wine list...and a very nice menu, incl. some tapas sharing plates - French and Basque style. Of course not a particularly Irish experience but they did have lovely Irish salmon too. Very friendly and competent service - both in English and French (some of the waiters were French). On the expensive side but not excessively so. A very nice place for a drink or dinner - but limited spaces so book ahead.More

You may be in Dublin but if you are looking for a taste of French food look no further than the French paradox. Don't leave without having the smoked duck salad. The staff are there long term which is always a good sign.

I had a wonderful first experience at French Paradox. We were a group of 6 or 7, and we all had nothing but good things to say.The welcome and service was top-notch, very attentive and professional, which we all noticed. The food was good quality...French bistro style. The French onion soup was just perfect - and the duck confit was excellent. There was a little room for desert, so 2 of us shared the Moroccan orange cake, which was divine. Most of us were driving, so only a few people had wine. I will definitely take a taxi home next time! I can't wait to come back. Having lived in France for many years, it felt like I was back there.More

When anyone comes to visit me in Dublin, this is where I take them and it never disappoints. The wine, food and atmosphere is always so welcoming and it's hard to leave, whilst the food and wine is top quality the restaurant maintains a very...relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The foie gras with mango is one of my favourite dishes on the menu.More
