Took a tour guide from the Dublin Castle out for a pint after work and he suggested the Stag's Head nearby. Enjoyed a few pints and talking with the friday just-leaving-work folks. The barkeep did not even move to take my credit card until i was ready to leave. If you are near the Dublin Castle, and want to wet... More

Walk down the sidewalk of Dames street on a Friday or Saturday evening and look for the stag mosaic on your path. Turn left down the alley and you'll find Dublin's hidden treasure. Make sure you go to the bar downstairs. You'll know your in the right place when you see the mural of Ireland's most influential leaders, writers, and... More

In a locale teaming with dining options, all legitimately able to boast historic pedigree, the Stags Head at least delivers as promised. The interior is stunning, as authentic as could be asked of a big city pub, and when combined with exceptional food, and service, one would be remiss to not choose the Stags Head among such an over-whelming (and... We went here on recommendation that it was more authentic and locals go here. It was packed. It was perfect. We stood at the bar and were immediately abused by the tender... his name was Rory. By abused I mean in a great way... if there were more bartenders like Rory in the world we'd all be happier. He was... More

Enjoyed my first Guinness here, as well as the best lunch I had in the city during our trip. Smoked salmon on potato pancakes was devine! My husband got the fish and chips which was also very delicious. The bartender/server was excellent, not only giving great service, but also pointed us in the direction of excellent entertainment, must-see attractions, and... More

This pub is Dublin's finest, if not Ireland's, and I can make that claim based on my arduous tour of Irish pubs (it's a dirty job...). The atmosphere is ideal: authentic, warm, elegant yet comfortable. The bartender is friendly and charming. The location is dead center in Dublin's hottest area, walkable and fairly easy to find. You cannot go wrong... More

After a long night's journey and our arrival in the morning, a little bit of sight seeing, we were starving and tired so sitting down to lunch at the Stag's head was a welcome break. We loved the bar and food was really good, irish stew was the best we had in Dublin. More

Great looking pub, perfectly nice Guinness, but lacking in spirit. We popped in for a late afternoon pint and there was no life in the place. Perhaps it gets hopping later on, but we couldn't stick around to find out - too dark and gloomy. More
