A really nice restaurant which is also great value. I would recommend the dumplings and also the steak. Service was attentive and pleasant making this a good value place to dine. More

I was there for dinner in March 2011 with my family. We had a nice evening there, great food where even the most "picky" of us found something they liked. The service was very attentive and gave good recommendations to us. The price was very good as they had an "early bird" special (even at 8pm) which is a 3... More

Myself & my husband ate in Hardwood two nights ago. This is our third visit to this restaurant & we havent been disappointed yet !! We have always eaten off the early bird menu & this changes frequently & has plenty of choice too . The staff are very friendly & very attentive to detail. The food is always a... More

My partner and I had been to see a film at the nearby Gate cinema. I'd seen Hardwood in a city guide and we gave it a go and we were glad we did. Arriving at about 8pm, the smarly decorated restaurant was fairly quiet (Thursday evening). We were surprised to find the early bird menu was available until 10pm... More

Eleven of us had a family reunion meal there on a Saturday night and were well looked after by the staff. The food was generally good with an adequate choice of wines and beers. The atmosphere was good (the restaurant is not large) and not so noisy that you couldn't hold a conversation. It would be a good venue for... More

Pros: nice decor, price Cons: confusion in kitchen Experience: Had early dinner with four others. When we arrived the restaurant was not crowded, but filled up later. They did not have the wine we ordered, but suggested an adequate alternative. I ordered a bowl of chowder and was served a bowl of mussels. The server realizing the error inquired if... More

We ate in this restaurant on Tuesday 16th February. We expected it to be quiet but it was buzzing. But I am not surprised at how busy it was as the food was absolutely excellent and was amazing value with a three course available for €20. But while they scrimped on the price they did not scrimp either on the... More

Was big in their brunch but went downhill lately. Food not as nice, freshly squeezed orange juice - pricey at nearly €4 - tasted watered down compared to previous visits :( More

Went to this restaurant based on previous reviews and we weren't disappointed. We didn't have a booking and it was a busy saturday evening with some christmas parties going on. The food and the service was top class. They had a special christmas set menu with ample choices. The only down side was they didn't have a childrens menu for... More

The food has been excellent every time we have eaten here and their recession-busting special of 3 courses and a drink for €20 represents superb value. We had the chowder, mussels, Chicken with chorizo and cheese wrapped in leek and the ice-cream to finish. All outstanding. With the Bierhaus and the cinema in easy walking distant this is an ideal...
