Description: Recently taken over by Peter and Jacqui Hobbs in November 2012, The Greyhound is situated in the heart of the beautiful medieval wool town of Lavenham. The Greyhound is a traditional pub dating back to the mid 14th century serving a range of locally sourced home cooked food. We have a roaring traditional open fire and a range of superb local and guest ales for you to enjoy. Whether you are visiting for a relaxing drink by the fire, a traditional Sunday lunch or celebrating a special occasion we look forward to welcoming you soon. Peter and Jacqui.

We have been travelling through Great Britain and Ireland and this was the best we had. The sticky pudding was 'to die' for. The proprietor was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Highly recommend you visit this town and this restaurant/pub.

We dropped in here one Saturday lunchtime on a day trip from Sudbury (buses don't run from Sudbury to Lavenham on Sundays or bank holidays). It's a no-nonsense pub and some locals were in here as well as tourists. We sat in the public bar, wooden floor, seats and tables, sparsely decorated, some old bound copies of Punch on the... More

They can't do enough to make your visit enjoyable at the Greyhound. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The menu is not full of fancy, expensive, hard to pronounce dishes, which seems to be the common thing in pub/restaurants nowadays. Just good honest food. We've been quite a few times in 2012 and we're looking forward... More

Had a family lunch in Lavenham. This was a good honest pub not trying to compete with its more upmarket and expensive neighbours in the village. Family of four had 4 specials all around £9 to £10 with 6 drinks, all came to £44.50. Inside the pub was clean and tidy with fire. Staff pleasant, food service was a bit... More

An honest meal enjoyed by all nine members of our party. Nothing pretentious , but all the better for it. Will definitely be coming back again.

My partner and I decided to have lunch in this lovely little country pub and I can't say enough good things about The Greyhound! The owners made us feel very very welcome as soon as we walked in, and the atmosphere inside the snug was very relaxing and comforting. We both ordered lunch and the service was impeccable. The food... More

Friendly, old pub with a homely atmosphere and quaint decor. Delicious home cooked meals at reasonable prices. We reserved a table in the window overlooking the high street next to the log fire - bliss! Loved it and would recommend it for a relaxed informal meal.

with live music. Cosy, in a very old timbered building. The baguettes are fresh with good cheese and ham and perfect chips on the side. Great, polite service and good music on some nights. Good beer and interesting wine.

I have visited Lavenham several times over the past few years visiting friends who live nearby, and I have had my fair share of drinks and meals in all of the pubs. Before November 2012, The Greyhound was not at the top of my list of Lavenhams pubs, and with 'The Angel' in the market place being taken over by... More

We were mooching through Lavenham with friends and took our chances by dropping into the Greyhound without booking for lunch. Between us we had venison stew, fish chowder and pork belly. All of the plates were cleared - even by the fussy eaters. The service was extremely friendly and soon after we arrived the pub began to fill up -... More
