Certainly was impressed with the inviting service as well as the restaurant environment. The food itself is some of the best Asian cuisine I have tasted so far in Oxford. It was fresh and reasonable portion size. I can say without a doubt that I plan to visit here once again.

Wonderful food, well worth a visit but make sure you book first. Good service, and they don't hurry you.

This was a fantastic find in Oxford, so be sure not to overlook it. In my opinion much better than many restaurants currently rated higher in tripadvisor. The restaurant has a unique charm in terms of location and layout - down a Dickensian alleyway to a ramshackle building which is twisting in every direction but held together through history and... This was a very acceptable meal. For sure it was not the best Thai meal in the world, outside Thailand, but the food was natural, fresh, flavoursome and well balanced. They signal hot being 2 peppers but do nit be put off, thats mild so comforting. Fish cakes are a good barometer, and these were eell made. There are 2... More

In the 1990's apparently the restaurant which was not a Thai restaurant at that timt I think it was La Sorbonne is where a certain Mr Blanc worked perfecting his craft. The building is down an alley off one of the main streets and it is listed, so not like anyother Thai restaurant I have been to as they have... More

I've now lived in Oxford for 5 years and I try to vary where I go for food, but when it really is just about great food, service and ambience I end up coming back to Chang Mai. As mentioned in other reviews the restaurant is in a lovely old building, I like it upstairs where there is a good... More

Easy to book online. We were a party of 7 that initially were placed in a room with a huge party that made so much noise we could barely think. We asked and were quickly moved downstairs into a cosy little room with a most amazing carved wood mantlepiece and much more atmospheric than upstairs. Service was very good. On... More

This is always my go-to restaurant when I want top quality food in an amazing building served by friendly an efficient staff. Book ahead so you don't have to sit at a table on the ground floor, Have never been disappointed with this place. If you're new to Oxford it's a must.

Follow the sign on the High Street...down the alley....through the old wooden door...up the staircase...and there it will be...the busy Thai resaurant.... every table packed...the delicious smells of Thai cuisine.... I got the fried tofu appetizer and shrimp pad thai for the main.... I got take out...and hustled back down the street in the cold wind to sit in the... More

Overall, our meal tonight was disappointing. As appetisers we tried scallops, the Chiang Mai salad and Laab Ped duck salad. These were adequate/average plus and we had some hopes that the main courses would deliver similarly or better. Our hopes were dashed. The Chiang Mai chicken was dull and rather tasteless, though improved somewhat, but not enough, by the accompanying... More
