Madsen is now closed. Shame really as it was a decent place serving good food at a reasonable price.
After checking in to our hotel nearby, we chanced upon this Scandinavian restaurant and thought of giving it a try. Thankfully our gamble paid off. We shared an appetizer of herring in two flavours, dill and curry. The curry marinated herring was something different and delicious, a must try. My husband ordered a two course set lunch of meatballs and... More
Visited Madsen as a party of four, last Saturday night. Initially not very busy but filled up soon after we arrived. Service was very friendly and helpful and a really interesting menu. The food was great, and the flavours were very authentic having been to Scandinavia many times for work. Enjoyed it immensely would go back again sometime,
We were looking for something a little different from the 'fish and chips' shops, and tried out Madsen Restaurant on Old Brompton Rd near Chelsea/S. Kensington area. The food was great. Marinated herring for a shared starter was perfect, not at all 'fishy', with capers, onion, and dill. For the main dish I chose the fish cakes which were moist... More
We visited Madsen on Saturday for an early dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant arriving around 5pm but soon more tables were taken. The food was delicious, we had the herring and salmon to start with followed by the meat balls and pork belly with crackling. Rhubarb trifle was very nice (and I don't like rhubarb!). The... More
My family went for lunch to this modern and charming restaurant after hearing so many great things about it. We were not disappointed. It gives a very high end feel but we were dressed in jeans and it was no problem. Madsen was conveniently located for our day of touring around London. The staff was very attentive. As it can... More
I'd read a mix of reviews about Madsen. I was keen to try it and delighted to see that the restaurant accept Taste Cards on Friday evenings. We arrived at the restaurant early which was no problem, we were immediately seated, we had a choice of seats and chose to sit in the window. I assume I was the only... More
Ate the pork meatballs (friskadeller) and they were amazing. The potato salad with it was beautiful and tangy. Nice restaurant, nice people and well priced.
Delighted to stumble upon this restaurant looking for a light lunch. From the outside we assumed it may be too expensive / formal for us but we were wrong and we received a very warm welcome. Open sandwiches with sparkling water and a glass of wine came to £22. Service was excellent. Spotlessly clean. Very calm but not at all... More
Madsen is adjacent to the South Kensington Tube Station. We have dined here many times, and the experience has always been the same - great food, reasonably priced and excellent service. The swedish meatballs are beyond comparison - exceptionally good and very authentic (my favourite on the menu). Make a reservation and ask for the table by the window -... More
