Went here at 16.55 after a visit to the Marlowe Theatre, the first thing the waitress said was that we could order from the lunchtime menu 12noon until 17.00, if we wanted to which we thought was really good as there was only five minutes to go before the evening menu started, we had the Paella and then could not... Our second visit and we were not disappointed. The mixed plate of starters - with merguez sausage, Serrano ham and manchego, meatballs, olives and feta, hoummous and salted, roast almonds - was fantastic and almost a meal in itself. I had roast pork belly which mixed crunchy, crackling with a layer of nice sticky, well-cooked fat and then tender, tasty meat.... More

was lovely to be greeted by friendly staff as we walked in and were swiftly shown to our table. the ambiance of the place was traditional and warm as were the staff. They had a good range of dishes and the infusion of Moroccan and spanish tapas worked really well. We didn't venture further than the tapas menu but what... More

You know that feeling when you come out of a cinema into sunlight. You're sort of mesmerised and amazed to see it's still daytime. Well you get the same kind of effect when you come out of Cafe mauresque having eaten downstairs. It's as if you've been in an exotic dream, being plied with delicious sensual dishes. Lovely waitresses float... More

Loved this place- downstairs had a great atmosphere and the food was fab. We had tapas- our favourites were the halloumi and squid with chorizo. Waitress was great but got one of our dishes wrong, although credit for remembering the rest without writing anything down, and for correcting the error quickly and professionally. We will definitely be going back.

we ate an evening meal here, paying around £60 including tips for a bottle of wine, two courses, ice cream for me, and (excellent) coffee. The food was very well prepared and presented, and lived up to its billing as Andalucian / North African - lots of fresh herbs and interesting flavours. The main restaurant is downstairs in the basement,... More

Day trip to Canterbury, lovely day blue sky and gentle breeze ...... visited the Tales and the Cathedral. Needed refreshment away from the bustle of the school parties in the Buttery. I spied a sign down a small medieval street - and arrived at Café Mauresque. Cold beer and excellent seafood tapas complemented a memorable day. Great service from all... More

Going into Cafe Mauresque I didn’t know what to expect. The lovely set up, the music, the kindness of the waitress who showed us our table immediately made me feel comfortable and set the mood for a great night. We were served right away, ordered some delicious tapas that were accompanied by one of the best mojitos I’ve had in... More

I have been here so many times and it is by far the best place to eat in Canterbury. Always cooked well, the seafood paella is my favourite!

Enjoyed dinner for two here on Friday 9th November 2012. Ordered Duck Tagine and Fish Tagine for main course and Hazelnut Cake and Date Cake for dessert. First visit - very impressed. Staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. The food was first class. Prices were a good reflection of the quality of the food. We arrived early... More
