My wife and I enjoyed a high quality lunch on Saturday. Potted shrimps, followed by a combination of sea bass and hake with fresh asparagus, samphire and potato fish cake with red pepper sauce - a gastronomic delight . Typical village pub atmosphere, but with atypical pub food. The room was well decorated with fresh cut flowers including some stunning... More

Give it a shot, it's on the A 534 between The Bickerton Poacher & The Durham Heifer. (Nantwich-Wrexham)

We took the parents here for some lunch what a great place with the great weather we sat outside they said they didn't serve the tables outside so ordered drinks at the bar and after deciding what we were going to eat, went back in to order which was no problem there were a quite a few people sitting outside... Myself and a friendly had a meal after an evening walk at Bickerton Hill. Pros: -Plentiful parking. -Friendly batman (landlord?) and waitress. -Pub surrounded by fields and the Mid Cheshire ridge. -Lots of different seating arrangements including tables for 2 and tables for groups. -Seating in a conservatory available. -Local (Chester Chronicle) and national (e.g. i, The Sun) newspapers available... Having booked in for a mid-week dinner, we arrived to an almost deserted, fairly spartan road-house and ordered two pints of Spitting Feathers - which were promptly returned as being cloudy and hardly exuding the colour expected of the familiar brew. The replacement of a 'house' ale turned out not to be much of an improvement and was sipped suspiciously... More

I booked this by e-mail as we'd been for lunch a few weeks before and had been impressed, so we had a chance of a date, so we came back and glad we did. Food was lovely. Garlic mushrooms to start, then I had cheese and spring onion pie with cabbage/asparagus and onion gravy - Yummy! Martin had Haloumi wraps... More

Whilst my partners duck was succulent and delicious my black and blue burger left little to be desired. It was very heavy and had a very pungent strong taste that attacked my tastebuds and I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. I would have preferred a lighter taste to compliment the strong blue cheese and bacon. The idea was... More

This was our second visit, and was on Mother's Day. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was great and it wasn't too expensive. It really couldn't be faulted. If you fancy a nice walk followed by a good pint and good food in a traditional pub then you won't be disappointed.

Last minute decision to go for Sunday lunch here then a walk with the dog on The Sandstone Trail. Roast beef and yorkshires fitted the bill. Sometimes I find the look of a roast when served unappetising but this was presented very nicely and accompanied by a variety of dishes of freshly cooked veggies. Washed down with a glass of... More
