Location and view are beyond amazing. Food was okay but very expensive for Zanzibar standards. Consider just going for a drink on the back patio. Service was okay though a but over the top at times. We went at lunch and was not busy at all.

This is an amazing experience, and well worth travelling from anywhere on Unguja island to experience. We travelled to this restaurant from nungwi as part of a day trip to the dolphin swimming and Jozani forest. We were not disappointed. We went for lunch and loved it. The restaurant is exactly as it appears on the website and photos on... More

I heard about this hotel many good things. And now I've confirmed. It is really good. I went with some friends when we were in Zanzibar. Good food, dishes well presented and indescribable view. It's seems like you eat straight over the sea. Real impressive!! Recommended to all.

We went to the rock for lunch on my birthday, while visiting Zanzibar. It was definitely worth the drive. It's simply spectacular. This restaurant, on a rock, in the ocean, surrounded by crystal clear water and white sand. Priceless! I loved the fact that at low tide you get to walk on the ocean floor to get to the restaurant... When I knew that my tour to Tanzania to climb Kili would also give us 3 days in Zanzibar, I googled the island and came across the Rock. So when we finally arrived on this lovely island I had to go! We went as a group of 12 after climbing Kili and spending 3 days at Kichanga Lodge. It was... More

This is a place I have been wanting to visit for years and I can finally tick it off the list. It met and exceeded my expectations. The view is amazing with food to match. The food and wine is well priced for seafood but don't expect it to be unrealistically cheap as it is a secluded beautiful restaurant. Eg.... More

Extraordinary location, attentive service, magnificent views, fresh seafood. A massive two-person platter of lobster, fish, prawns, and fries for US$50. Going at high tide means being ferried across on a dhow. The currents can be powerful, and the boatmen work very hard to keep guests dry and safe; I recommend you tip them generously.

I would put this restaurant at the top of my dining experiences. The Rock in Zanzibar is a destination in itself--either surrounded by the sea or an expanse of gorgeous sand. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is laid back but efficient. It was definitely the highlight of all our dining on Zanzibar Island, Tanzania.
