I dined at the Hobbit Bistro with a large group of business colleagues, and thus did not select the restaurant myself. As such, I was not expecting much, as in the past I have been underwhelmed by Quebec restaurants which had glowing reviews but so-so meals. Things started off well when about 15 of us showed up without a reservation,... More

We thought it was a pretty good breakfast until we went to Le Cochon Dingue the next day. Not bad, but I would walk to Le Cochon Dingue instead!

Fantastic customer service. We arrived without a reservation but managed to get one of the two empty tables. While we waited for our first course (French onion soup) we had a fun chat with the chef (just finished his shift) and one of the waiters. The soup was delicious (excellent cheese on top and truffle oil and arugula). The main... More

Not sure where the Hobbit theme comes from - perhaps the Hobbit's need for breakfast, elevenses, lunch, etc - good food, wine, service OK - my Australian sense of humour might have missed the mark - I think Canadians take "tongue in the cheek" comments a little too literally.

We had an extensive impromptu 3 course late lunch here. A warm and welcoming refuge from the bitter cold, the menu caters to the hungry tourist in search of hearty home-style food. Best part for me was the oceanesque bowl of coffee.

Of course the restaurant's name was enticing, and so were the online reviews. We were not disappointed. We tried the beet + apple + goat cheese salad, two different pasta dishes, and the Baghdad Cafe mousse cake. All were spectacular in taste and presentation. The service was warm and efficient, the decor was trendy and comfortable, and we were seated... More

Our first morning in Quebec City found my wife and I, as usual on such trips, looking for a new place to have a good breakfast. We were taking our time, enjoying our March break, so it was already 11:00 when we walked into "Cafe Le Hobbit" - I was dubious (was it a theme restaurant?), but hungry, so we... More

Interestingly located resto. Our meal was somewhat underwhelming. French onion soup and lasagna was decent. Was worth a try but we wouldn't return. Two dining areas. The dining room where you enter the restaurant was the nicest. We were put in another room where there were 3 screaming infants.

A nice place to be with your love or your friends...a menu with something for every taste. A good wine selection and reasonable prices. We were 2 couples . Salmon tartare for apetizers, steak and fries, truit and black pudding. Not exceptional, but good food. Big enough portions. A small deception, the liaison of the salmon tartare was made with...
