Went here for lunch. Pretty good lunch type food - chowder, sandwiches, fish & chips. Attentive service. A cut above local alternatives.
First, This brilliant little restaurant is at least 500 km away from St. John's so it should be changed in the description above. While at L'Anse aux Meadows we asked for the best local food restaurant to eat at. We were given 3 options and The Daily Catch was our choice. It was the best decision we made this whole... More
First of all, as many have said, this restaurant is NOT located in St. John's. It is located at the tip of the Northern Peninsula on the road to L'ance aue Meadows. We ate there around lunch time in early July 2013 and at the time were the only customers. This did not last long and before long the restaurant... More
Lovely setting at this restaurant. Very pleasant service. The fish and chips were excellent. Fish appetizers also good. One cod dish was so huge as to be an unappetizing turn-off, but quantity may be a plus for most people. All in all, I definitely recommend a visit to this place.
Enjoyed basil buttered halbut with a fresh salad, carrots and rice pilaf. My wife had cod aux gratin which she enjoyed. For an appetizer had their crab cakes with dill mayo and cod tongues - both were excellent. The building is new and the decor simple but comfortable. Also offer local crafts and jewelry.
After a day of wandering the Northern Peninsula and L'Anse aue Meadows - this was a great place to have a home cooked meal. The owner and family were very friendly and the food was fresh. Carrot ginger soup, fish cakes, maple topped salmon - with a fresh salad which you would have thought was out of the garden at... More
(First - this restaurant is NOT in St. John's, but near the tip of the Northern Peninsula!) We arrived anticipating a wonderful experience (after reading other reviews) but were sadly left disappointed. The Daily Catch may have been short-staffed our evening, but we had to wait quite a while (first to get our order taken, to be served...), and when... More
The food was excellent and the service was simply outstanding. The kitchen was sending out excellent food in short order and the wait staff was some of the best that I have ever encountered. Reasonably good value for money. Fish was fresh. place was clean, just the ticket.
Overall quality of the food was poor. We ordered the special, lobster which was in season, and it was overpriced!! Very salty, rubbery and tough. We ordered mussels as an appetizer they were simply okay. The entrée came with a small salad which was fine, but the actual sides on the plate: carrots and brown rice were terrible. How does... More
The restaurant is not in St. John, it is in St. Lunaire near St. Anthony in the North West side of the Island. We picked this restaurant by accident on our way to L'Anse aux Meadows, and I was so glad we did that. The deco was cosy and comfortable and there's a side seaview. My hushand ordered the lobster...
