We made the mistake of stopping by here too on our recent trip to Cancun on 9/25/11. The bar/restaurant is right near the beginning of the strip in the Hotel zone. Like most of the other Mexican people, the tall bald guy, who introduced himself as Jose (and we found out later that his REAL name is Librado) lured us... More

We stopped here for a family dinner on our first day in Cancun. First of all, this restaurant didn't have air conditioning. We were going to keep walking but the host (tall bald guy) insisted he had turned it on and would cool down, it never did. We were the only people in the restaurant, that should have been a... More

Have been to Cancun many times over the past 20 years and this was the first time I ever noticed this restaurant so decided to give it a try. Loved everything . Great atmosphere, excellent service and fantastic food. My sis and I went twice. Looking forward to eating there again during my trip next month. But note that, at... More

Coming from California I have experienced plenty of good Mexican food. This place was the worst place we ate in Cancun and one of the worst restaurant decisions I have made. The food is bad and the prices are ridiculous. First clue was the giant ad selling 5 coronas for $10 US. The bucket on the wall is clearly 12... More

For some reason the night we went they had the restaurant interior closed; the only table available were outside in the front. The food was okay but nothing special; ditto for the service and the drinks. More

My wife and I had an excellent experience, here. The food was great and the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Gusto, was very accommodating and, not only provided samples of the different mole sauces, but also arranged my meal to have the meat in two of the mole sauces, since I couldn't decide. The fact that they had several different... More

We went to try Calenda Oaxaca because the night before, after we had already ate at another place, we walked by and talked to the hosts in front. The gentelman with the shaved head was very friendly and thought we would go back the next night and try it out. We had had a late lunch so only wanted some... More

We ended up going to this restaurant after walking around this area of the hotel zone, and I wish I would have read some of the recent reviews before wandering into this establishment. By this point in our trip we'd already eaten downtown at several small restaurants several times and expected our experience to be fairly similar, but it turns... More

Always have heard that the best food and chefs in Mexico come from Oaxaca. They must have deserted Cancun for the States. Restaurant was completely empty when we arrived around 730 pm. Service was very accomodating since no one else was there. We got taste all the various mole sauces first so we could make a choice. Once selected though,... More
