Being from NJ I rarely eat Italian in the Caribbean...I admit it, I'm a snob about it. Al Dente was fantastic! I had the Veal Involtini with mushrooms and Marsala, also the chicken. With artichokes was great too. Had the banana bread pudding for dessert and I'm still thinking about how good it was. Service was friendly and helpful, knowledgeable... More

On our last night I was craving pasta. So happy that we found Al Dente. Our wonderful neighbor where we were staying recommended it. The atmosphere, staff and food were amazing. We started with a bottle of wine that we let the manager choose based on our description of what we like. He did a wonderful job. We liked it... More

This place is great. Great wine list. Tasty food. Good and fun service. Can't go wrong. I ate hear three years ago and returned on my most recent visit. It was just as good the second time around.

The evening wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was quiet and refreshing after the bustle on the streets of Old San Juan. The rice, spinach, cheese ball appetizer was so delicious. Do not miss the chance to order this unique dish. The mahi mahi was the freshest, cooked perfectly. I ordered it with extra vegetables and they... More

I have visited Al Dente three times for different occasions and have never been disappointed. The service has been excellent - bi-lingual staff, the food - various appetizers and entrees, delicious and the atmosphere - both inside and out, perfect (of course good weather helps the outside seating). I have recommended Al Dente to numerous colleagues and friends and they... More

We asked a local taxi driver for an Italian he directed us past 2 to get to this one. Very glad we kept walking. It's (apparently) the olds Italian in San Juan. Food was excellent. We only wanted a main course but they gave us a sample of the soup which was to die for. We ended up having 3... More

Serving the best Italian cuisine in PR, using the best ingredients available, they create awesome lunches and dinners. Fresh pasta, great sauces and crisp veggies and desserts done by his wife from some classics (tiramisu) to informal creations (blueberry cupcakes) with a decor to please the eye, service to please anyone and good prices.

We enjoyed a wonderful pasta and salad dinner with bread before, delicious desserts after, and nicely-sized portions of each. Friendly servers and intimate atmosphere made for a very relaxing meal before the San Juan 70.3. Thanks for a great experience!

I've been meaning to write this since July, when I had a delightful dinner at Al Dente with my husband and our then 15-month-old son. We spent about two-and-a-half hours at the restaurant and enjoyed every minute. The food was exquisite: we ordered the risotto that was a special of the day and we remember its crunchy asparagus and lovely,... More

Al Dente is of course, an Italian restaurant (actually it advertises as being Sicilian) in Old San Juan, conveniently located on Recinto Sur, close to the cruise ship docks and public parking. It's one of the only restaurants with outdoor seating...and because of this, it's difficult to find a free table...The menu offers traditional Italian dishes...pasta, veal, etc. We chose... More
