At the foot of Tokyo Tower is a 100-year-old reconstructed sake brewery nestled in a beautifully manicured garden. Tofuya Ukai, a restaurant that focuses on tofu, calls this place home. Everything about this places emanates the Japanese culture-- grace, nature, delicate foods. Our experience with the food and service were flawless from start to finish. We checked in with the... What a beautiful setting! As a previous rater noted, i take my visitors there for the experience more than the food. The food isn't bad, but in a city with so many michelen rated restaurants, the bar is high... but the service, the ambiance, the gardens, the beautiful glow of tokyo tower at night, all make it a wonderful place... In February we ate at Ukai Tofuya in Shiba and cannot say I was overly impressed with either their food or service. It seemed to be a purely tourist operation with the aim of turning over the numbers and as a result the quality of the meal suffered. They seem to have pretensions to kaiseki style dining & service but... More

The concept is Tofu Kaiseki. it is like a play, the waitress was like an actress, a state of the art restaurant in an excellent location. A unique place. The setting is incredible. they have 60 private rooms, and a showroom of a sake brewery. I will never forget this restaurant. We went for lunch after visiting Tokyo Tower that... More

First time in Tokyo as a birthday treat for my husband. The restaurant gave us a traditional Japanese private dining room even though they only usually do it or party of 4 and over. Everything was perfect ... The atmosphere, the service, the food, the setting ... Spend time walking through the most beautiful gardens. Could not recommend it highly... More

Tucked away under the Tokyo tower, a very traditional building with a gorgeous garden. As the name suggest, it's a tofu cuisine restaurant, but it doesn't only do tofu well. Service was very good, but communication and description of dishes in English was somewhat lacking. Over a p,easing experience.

Anyone new to Japan should certainly try this place. The location beneath the Tokyo Tower is unmissable, as is its pretty setting around a traditional garden. Service is all old-world Japanese charm. The ten-course dinner menu I had on my visit was very good. It centered around tofu (inevitably) and that's not my favorite ingredient, but there was much more... More

It was winter, I arrived at the resturant via a taxi, and I was greeted with very friendly traffic marshellers, who helped me with my luagage. The resturant was quite traditional and had a really nice Japanese garden with a chef preparing tofu in the middle of it. The waitress provided us with extremely good service. Last but not the... It's another Ukai series restaurant - the same atmosphere but smaller scale of Japanese garden but it's in the centre of Tokyo which makes most people convenient to visit. I prefer Tofu food than Toriyama or Chikutei meat - you don't need to cook yourself thus more relaxed time. There is also Tofu Ukai in Hachioji, which is also good... More

Ancient looking garden and building all recently created to give you taste of old Japan. Cannot beat the view of Tokyo tower. Taken family and business clients many times. Food is very good but not gourmet. Probably to big a restaurant to have great food.
