  "We stayed at the Tunturi in Feb 2013. It was a late booking through Inghams and the Geilas was our preferred choice but fully booked. The main block provides all the services, bar and restaurants with accommodation in a number of blocks on the complex within a few hundred metres. The rooms were clea..."n, warm and well appointed but a little uninspiring like a motel. That said they suited us fine. We were half board and breakfast and dinner were good with enough variety. Saariselka is a fantastic destination for an all round experience but may come up a bit short if you are looking for black runs. There were a lot of non skiers who were there to see the Northern Lights and they found plenty to do namely cross country, snow shoeing, huskies, snow mobiles and sleighs. The big attraction is the toboggan run. You can walk up and slide down the 1.2km course or take the ski bus which is free if you have a ski pass or 5 euro or reached from the ski lift.   "This was our last leg of our winter honeymoon. This is definately worth the effort and money due to the remoteness and beauty of Lapland in winter. However, here are a few suggestiong for those braving the cold for this experience: 1. The ice bar was not open yet, due to the weather. If that is..." a priority for you, I'd go later in the winter. 2. Highly recommend staying in the glass igloos, because it is the best way to see the Northern Lights. Note, there are no showers in the igloos, so you must go to the community showers. 3. The log cabins were super cozy, with a wood burning fireplace, a kitchenette and private sauna. I recommend staying a few nights in the glass igloo and then finish your trip in the log cabins. 4. Everything is extra, so before you fly in, stock up on lunch supplies, tea or coffee, snacks, bring your own bottle of wine. The cabins have fridges and the glass igloos have a little entry way that stays cold enough for your cheese and crackers! 5. Take ad... " More >
