The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed directions or suggestions for dinner. The hotel has a nice patio area with a gas fireplace, which the staff was happy to light for us when we wanted to sit outside in the evening. There are several patio tables, which were nice for a late afternoon snack and cocktails by the waterfall. The lobby area is very welcoming and comfortable. We selected the Bavarian Inn for two reasons: it is centrally located in Custer City in the Black Hills, and the good reviews about the German food in the restaurant.   "After an unhappy experience with Hotels.com, we were left to pay a rather high price at one motel so we checked in town and found this Best Western. For $40 per night less, it was a better deal. Not fancy, but clean and friendly."
