The ranch really is amazing, and, being in the middle of nowhere, feels like such a retreat. We loved our little cabin - the stirrup - with it's cowboy themed decor. We went on four rides during our stay, where the cowboys lead you through the hills - the surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning, and you are taken very high up on horseback to really get the best views. The ranch has a great selection of activities - from the swimming pool, fishing lake and hiking, to campfires and rodeos. My only suggestions for improvement would be to have dinner slightly later - we found 6pm a bit early when we wanted to make the most of the day, but it suited all the famil... " More >

The horses were very responsive and well-trained, which made us both feel very comfortable.   "Before we built our place in Bandera County, we would go down there most every weekend to work. The Flying L is on the way to our little slice o' Texas, so we gave it a try. Our Villa was huge and clean. Neat structure, but very dated. This was Top Tier back in the 80's, but not so much in the 21st ..."century. Several of the '80s 'high end' appliances didn't work...the fridge, the dishwasher, etc. Some of the furniture was rickety and one of the toilets rocked like a 'rodeo ride' according to my Wife. It was kind of expensive ($150+ a night) for what it was. There were definitely bright spots: the little water park & pool, the Staff was awesome, the food was quite good, and the entertainment was great! The trick roper, Kevin Fitzgerald, and his horse are absolutely amazing! The Flying L has a nice vacation 'vibe'. Summary: This is a great place for families.
