The peaceful, rural setting is perfect for unwinding and relaxing after a long day. There's a lovely walk along the golf course to the sand dunes and beach where you can see a massive (and impressive!) seal colony. Good value: Although (on first impressions) the hotel is a bit tired in places, it is obvious to us, that the current hotel owner is trying their best to improve the hotel accommodation.   "There's no doubt the hotel could do with some extensive capital works. Years of neglect and some bad luck with flooding have given this hotel a real knock. However, current management is doing a great job in very difficult circumstances. The rooms are basic but just about acceptable. The facade ..."and some of the communal areas could definitely do with a spruce up but this place is a money pit and so a full recovery will take some time. In the meantime the food is excellent with a passionate and skilled chef and the staff , while certainly not polished, are welcoming and provide an excellent service. We stayed for 4 nights on a golfing trip and had a great time with the characters here providing an extra dimension. Enjoy the food, have a wee dram and go with the flow. Also, stay on the fairways!
