Cannot praise the management and staff enough also, for their further efforts to enhance the exterior of the property. Can't wait for another visit and can recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a little more from their stay. Certainly not the cheapest place in the area, but you certainly get what you pay for.   "This was our 7th visit to Borrowdale Gates in the last 30 years and apart from building extensions, nothing really changes - just A1 quality everywhere and in every respect. On this occasion, we stayed in hotels in Glasgow, Pitlochry, Inverness, Stornoway, Tarbert and Portree, finishing at Borrowdal..."e Gates for a special occasion - my 70th birthday.This was the climax of the trip, the best hotel by far and something we will always treasure and remember. Apart from the food, the views, the area, the service, the accommodation, it was a couple of little things which made it special. This was the antics of red squirrels and a woodpecker in the garden.
