There were lots of families when I was there and they all seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is quite pricey, and some of the rooms are old and need updating. Our room however, seemed like we were the first people to stay in it since it was renovated, so they are doing the work that needs to be done. Overall, I would highly recommend it. The least expensive way to see the Mohonk property is to purchase a $20 day pass, which will allow you to hike the grounds, but no..."t enter the house itself. It's well worth hiking, there are plenty of trails and going up to the tower is an adventure if you do the "Lemon Squeeze" (a rock scramble/hike that is challenging, especially for ample-bosomed women like myself). The views are outstanding, especially if you visit on a clear, sunny day. The gardens they maintain are beautiful and are very popular spots for weddings. The next step up is to make a reservation for lunch. Last I did it was about $45 per person, but the food is served buffet style and is really good.
