If you're heading to Hutch for the Cosmosphere, Salt Museum, or anything else, you won't want to miss Hedricks. Where else could you feed giraffes and kangaroos and watch camels, zebras, a zedonk, alpacas, ostri..."ches, a really cool hybrid peacock and tons of other exotic creatures, while staying at a comfortable, friendly place? We almost missed the evening tour. Don't. Aside from the animals, the facilities were very clean and comfortable, the warm cookies in the evening were a nice touch. I think they took Tripadvisor suggestions, because we had eggs and sausage along with the continental fare. Not gourmet, but more than adequate. The kids also loved all the activities at night - meeting new friends over a game of pingpong, air hockey or foosball, watching videos, or just hanging out.   "We had so much fun! I've been to Kenya and on safari and I didn't get as up close and friendly with the animals there as what we did here. Nigel the giraffe was amazing. It was obvious these animals are well cared for and loved. They had animals that Wichita zoo doesn't even have - this is much ..."better than a zoo experience and we really like the zoo. The staff are amazing. They are very kind, friendly and helpful. I was impressed by their care for people as well as animals. Breakfast was fresh fruit, biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, cereals, oatmeal, tea, waffles, a big breakfast breads selection, and yogurt if you wanted it. The zebra room was bigger than what it looked like in the photo. We are a family with four children 7 and under and we all fit very happily there.   "Truly a unique place to stay. We (myself, wife, daughter), stayed in the Pride of Kansas Suite. The room was very large, an unusual combination in that it was bordering on "nice" but also felt a bit like a farmhouse living room. The place is obviously not your typical hotel -- but it is refined e..."nough while maintaining it's small town unique appeal. The breakfast was just fine, presented buffet style in a large dining room (which also houses some games for the kids and a VHS movie library if you want to watch in your room -- seeing all the VHS certainly keeps the feel of "old school")... What makes the place really unique is that it is also an "exotic animal farm". It's somewhere between a petting zoo and a full (small) zoo. They also have pony and ostrich rides for guests. We would stay here again if we found ourselves in the area (we were there to visit the Cosmosphere and Salt Mine Museum).
