  "What a lovely hotel - it ticked all the boxes for a recent overnight stay with a friend plus dog. The staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming, and very keen to make sure we had everything we wanted. The hotel is comfortable, cosy and decorated to a high standard throughout. Our room was on ..."the top floor, looking out over the street. The beds, bedding and towels were all top-notch quality. We both enjoyed dinner in the restaurant - great local lamb and mussels - and breakfast was just as good. Excellent quality bacon and sausages etc. The only minor niggle - I realise the restrictions of an old building, but the final staircase up to the second floor is narrow and the stairs have a peculiarly low riser and short tread. We were helped up with our bags because of it. However, I think it could be a bit more of a challenge for those less steady on their pins even without bags, I found it quite perilous walking down with the dog who was keen to be out and about!   "What a gem this is! Superb location, within two minutes walk of the centre of Moretonhampstead but in a quiet and peaceful no through road. The house and garden and lovely - what a change to stay in a contemporary home with none of the twee bits and pieces many B&B owners clutter their homes with. A..."nne and Richard are a delightful couple and we instantly felt at home and very comfortable with them. The B&B is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and with every amenity. Extremely comfortable beds with lovely linen. The bathroom is luxurious with a bath that is just perfect after a day walking on Dartmoor. Anne's recommendation of the Union pub for dinner was spot on. So much so that I was too full up for the full English breakfast I had signed up for the night before! However, she was quite happy for me to have cereal instead. I only wish we had stayed the previous two nights here instead of another B&B which shall remain nameless but was rather grim! " More >

  "Stayed two nights in a clean, warm, charming room. This ancient building is quirky and fascinating with a fabulous guest lounge. The landlady is friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were spot on. It's out of the way up a quiet narrow lane and in fabulous countryside close to wild Dartmoor."
