Having investigated hotels and pousadas on Tripadvisor, and seen the positive reviews of Casa Dois Gatos we contacted the guys there to enquire further. We were a bit concerned about the location as we had thought of going for a place on the beach, but in the end it turned out they are about 20 minutes walk from the best beach, Praia do Forte, through the town centre (which we also wanted to be near). When we asked them about this we were told they offer a service taking guests to the beach, by prior agreement - so problem solved! We rented an apartment that sleeps 6 (2 in a double bed in one bedroom, 4 on divans in the main living space). It has toilet/shower facilities and a kitchenette in the living space with fridge/washing and so forth. The Casa Dois Gatos guys couldn't have been kinder or more helpful to us, advising on lo...   "I just stay here two days the service is very good. The negitives are next to main road very noisey. The other is the hotel only serves breakfast and good restrauants are hard to find. The last negitive is on Monday evening we as to get a taxi. They could not get one. We were told you are on your ow..."n. We went to the street and got lucky at taxi stop to let someone off right where we were standing. We went to great Italian Restaurant I will review in that section. The location to the beach is good about 10 minute walk about 3 to 4 blocks. I will post photo of the room and they did get us into our room early no charge. It also is close to a great grocery store good selection and they have a refrigerator in the room you can use. Tha grocery store is about 10 minute walk and has a universal ATM it work for all bank cards. There is a 12R charge goes at existing exchange rate tell you on the printout.   "The place is around 20 minutes walking from the downtown and the beach, but it was pretty fine. The owner of the hotel, Valter, is a great example of personalized service. Me and my boyfriend were amazed by the way he treated us and all the other people staying there. The rooms were big enough, with..." one couple bed and 2 single, clean towels, and a fridge in the room. The breakfast was really good, with a great variety of cheese, breads and fruits (which was nice for me, I really love cheese). There's a room in the upper level of the place, with huge TV, sound system, place for barbeque and the swimming pool, that can be used by everyone. We made a party in one of the nights there, and my boyfriend made shrimp sticks, and everyone ate it. They also offer to you the option of using their car for a charge much more cheaper than the taxis, and is possible to book boat tours with them.
