  "Not in the best location but fairly central this is a no-frills place. Wifi in lobby and basic breakfast included. Walkable to the main station, but better to saty closer to there and buy a bus/train pass for getting around as Kyoto's sights are widely scattered."

  "A basic but very nice and modern hotel just across from the Kyoto train station. The hotel is on the quieter side of the train station, away from the Kyoto Tower and all the hustle and bustle, which makes for a less hectic visit. We stayed here for two nights while visiting Kyoto and found the hote..."l excellent. The hotel is super clean and comfortable and we found the staff at the hotel friendly and accommodating in every way. As we are from Canada we appreciated the excellent English that was spoken. Another thing we really liked was the easy in which we were able to book the room at the Vista in advance. The hotel is also nearby some good fast food type restaurants but the train station itself is crammed full of every conceivable eating place at all price ranges. Staying at the Vista was very relaxing and made our short visit to Kyoto enjoyable. I would highly recommend a stay at the Vista. " More >

  "Excellent location on top of Kyoto station, which is really handy for getting to the major tourist sights by bus, train or subway. Well-equipped, clean room with a great view over the Kyoto Tower. The laundry service isn't cheap, but is good and quick. Service was excellent and most of the staff s..."peak good English and they were very helpful e.g. Finding directions and making a reservation for a local restaurant. Breakfast is a buffet with a good choice of Japanese and Western food. I also ate at the teppanyaki restaurant, Gozanbo, one evening because I couldn't be bothered to go out. The set menu is very good and the steak was high quality and perfectly cooked. The only downsides are the awful music that plays in the corridors and the queue for breakfast at peak times.
