  "Kanazawa is not in the countryside but the Ryokan Sumiyoshiya felt like it; being in the middle of the town. Good location, clean and wonderful host. We had a good Japanese dinner and relaxed in the onsen. Centrally located, close to bus stop."

As the station is a major transport hub for all points within city, it is very easy to go to any site or destination in city. We didn't do the breakfast as is was an extra 1700 yen per person (approx $17.00 USD each) and in the station there is a terrific coffee/sandwich shop called German cafe as well as a Starbucks in Fortis Mall just across from hotel. We had our breakfast then hopped on a bus to see the sights right from station. There is also a very good English speaking information center in station. The hotel has several restaurants and one bar in lobby. We had a drink at the lobby bar, very pleasant and reasonably priced. Gin/vodka tonic 800 yen ($8.00) Moscow Mule also 800 yen.   "I would definitely recommend the Dormy Inn as a hotel in Kanazawa. It's right across from the train station. It's a bit of a walk to the main garden and other sights, but if you like to walk, it only takes about 20-30 minutes. My only complaints were that the wifi was only available in the lobby,..." and it only worked for facebook, not email or any other websites or apps on the IPhone. They did have 3 computer terminals in the lobby, but it is much easier to use your smartphone. The bathroom was tiny, just a small stall shower and a tiny sink outside, and the room was small, but clean and tasteful, and the bed was comfortable. The room was very quiet. The best part was the onsen (hot springs bath/spa) on the top floor. It was so relaxing and there was also a sauna. " More >
