Very friendly staff, secure grounds, free parking. A no-smoking hotel that still afforded is smoking guests with 3 very nice, comfortable outdoor areas in which to light up, complete with real ashtrays on the tables. A small touch but as a former smoker, my opinion is that by respecting its smoking clientele, they in turn kept their areas clean. It was a nice touch IMO. Back to the hotel.   "Took the family out for a weekend trip seeing White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns over the weekend from Albuquerque. First this was a mistake, the caves deserve more time but that is besides the point. For a weekend trip Artesia was a good in between point for us to rest. Hotels are limited, but w..."e found this Best Western online. The Hotel is dated, but clean and quiet. Kids liked the pool which was well kept with extra towels. Did not spend much time in the room as it was just an overnight. Breakfast was lacking in speed of service, but very good considering there was only one person seating, serving, cooking and cleaning. Note for those with allergies. They do have a hotel cat guarding the entrance and from what I could tell spends most of its time there. Cat did not mind kids. If you have really bad allergies this might be an issue. For us it was not. " More >

  "I picked the Heritage Inn in Artesia because the prices of hotels in Carlsbad were outrages! The Heritage Inn was a neat little place to spend a couple of nights while visiting nearby Roswell and Carlsbad. The room was small, but nice and fit our family of 3. Sue, the innkeeper, is excellent at h..."er job and makes everyone feel welcomed. Nothing against the Heritage Inn, but our spare tire did get stolen from the parking along the street of this hotel. This could have happened anywhere, but take precautions if staying in this small town and you drive a vehicle that has a full size spare tire. Also, Artesia is home to the largest rifinery in New Mexico and it's right down the street...so there is a heavy odor throughout this town. " More >
