The owner of one of the B&Bs where I stayed on the island even said t..."hat she goes to this hotel once a year with her family, and while we were there many people indicated that they were from the big island. The room I stayed in was very nice, and I typically dislike hotel rooms. The doors were heavy and thick so that they did a better job of muffling corridor noise, the balcony was quite deep, and there were three sets of sliding balcony double-doors: solid glass, screen, and plantation blinds. The bathroom was large, with a double sink. The common areas were very lovely, with excellent views of the beach. We were upgraded to a huge beach front suite under the Amex Platinum Travel Service, so we can not complain about our amazing suite. The valet service is good and efficient as you pay only $6 extra on top of the self parking rate for the comfort. Great spa with several types of massage and different locations (by the pool, in front of the beach, near the artificial waterfall).   "Stayed 3 nights at the Mauna Lani with my husband and 8-month old daughter. Check-in process was nice. Like others have said, we were presented with shell leis. (They even gave one to the baby!) They were are all set up for us with a crib already in the room. Room was very spacious and even had ..."a tiny fridge. We splurged for the ocean view and we did have a pretty good one, although it was around the corner a bit. The one thing that I found lacking in the room was the bed comfort. It seemed a bit hard and I could feel the springs. (I have a top of the line Tempur Pedic at home, so I may be spoiled.) The hotel pool is very nice, although it did tend to get a little busy. The two on-site beaches were beautiful and very calm - I felt perfectly taking my baby into the water. The hotel has snorkeling gear to lend for free, as well as boogie boards.
