There are certainly more modern hotels about, however, you will compromise on location or value for money and may well miss out on friendly and helpful staff who actually have a stake in the business. You get secure parking, it's a bonus in my book. It's right next to the very big park that's known as the racecourse - great for runners, basketball and tennis players. Breakfast is not a cursory affair - there are options which will definitely suit the hungry - and this is included in the room price. To sum up - it ticks the boxes that matter to me (as someone who pays their own hotel bills). If I'm working in the area again I'll try to book here first. " More >

I was a bit concerned when I arrived about the noise from trains, as I'm usually a light sleeper, but ... the trains must have stopped as I slept like a baby both nights. I would struggle to find anything to dislike really, if you expect the Ritz, then you should book (and pay for) the Ritz. This is a very friendly local Inn, with great food and friendly staff..... With excellet quality restaraunt in the hotel , i cannot see any reason to go elsewhere.So, I ate in the bar & dined on a beautiful chicken madras - truly delicious. Again brilliantly looked after by all the staff.
