Fredericksted in particular is a small little town with a beautiful historic fort and a few shops. Christiansted is a 45 min drive, and is more hopping with resorts and restaurants, as well as shopping. If you want that, go to Christiansted..if you want peace and relaxation in a laid back setting, with calm clear water and amazing views you cant beat cottages. We have been to probably 12 caribbean islands, and this beach is one of the very best. No crowds. So reasonable with rates, you can save a lot of money if you are willing to cook a few meals yourself. You will need a rental car, and there are several on the island to choose from.
