We spent some of our time on the moor behind Okehampton and on the beach at Widemouth, near Bude, (rockpools;we now have enough shells, sand and pebbles to make a grotto in our back garden). The wave pool in Bude is nice and clean and the kids couldn't get enough of the slide. There is a Waitrose in Okehampton and in Holsworthy. We were happy with the look of the place and it's position in the village. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, however the food, which was plentiful, wasn't bril..."liant. Dinner on our second night was very disappointing, my husband's lamb was especially unsavoury. When we complained about it, we were given free desserts as a consolation prize. We weren't alone, a table of four sat near us were equally unimpressed and other guests made similar comments to us. The food didn't live up to expectation at all. The place could be so much better with a few simple changes. An inner courtyard could be made so much more of if it wasn't used as the smoking area for both staff and customers.
