  "We were quite spent by the time we cycled over the Omishima bridge, having pedalled. from Ominichi. We were looking for a spot to stay to break up our Shimanami Kaido ride. A local pointed us to a spot around the western shore, a further kilometer or two. They had a vacancy and we were in heaven. Th..."e room was traditional, but quite large with a view of the water and the imposing bridge we had just crossed. No credit card facilities meant a trip to the bank. They must have sensed I was in no mood to renew my acquaintence with the bicycle seat that day and offered to drive me there. Not before a refreshing beer, of course. What followed was a most pleasant evening of onsen, fantastic seafood and a few more drinks. Slept like a log, ready to ride again. But first, a full traditional breakfast. The negatives: - - no WiFi in the hotel, you suddenly realise how much you use it when it's not available - breakfast was very basic but in fairness there was plenty of Japanese options but not much for your average Westerner beyond cornflakes, croissant and toast As long as you go here on the basis that you'll have a good nights sleep, be cleaned well and eat local food then you'll enjoy it.
