We decided to break our journey from Strahan at this lovely location on the Cradle Mountain road. We had an excellent dinner cooked by chef Remi with vegetables straight from the garden and home made sorbet. The house is a beautifully restored country Victorian farm house with 4 bedrooms and the ideal place for a group of friends to stay... More

The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated with a elegant French Provincial feel. Both rooms had an ensuite within the room. A guest lounge was provided with seating for 8 in 2 areas. A music system, firebox, soft lighting, and copious amounts of books and magizines made this room a lovely retreat. We ordered dinner for 4 people and were... More

Glencoe Retreat B&B in the Kentish Hills is simply delightful. Owned by Remi and Ginette Bancal, it was recommended by Tasmanian friends who had eaten there, but oddly not by the Kentish Visitor Information Centre at Sheffield. When we asked for details about Glencoe, the staff member at the Centre did her utmost to persuade us to stay somewhere else,... More

We were looking forward to staying at Glencoe for two nights but on leaving were quite disappointed. We were greeted by the host, Ginette and my first two requests were given a stern response. When I asked her if she could freeze our small ice brick she sighed and said she might be able to "squeeze it in" - a... More

Barringwood Estate Winery recommended Glencoe B & B to us (2 couples). We were not disappointed. Lovely old restored home and glorious garden. Rooms superbly appointed with French touches....ensuite bathroom with L'Occitane bath products. Ginette was our hostess and chef. She used to cook at Miettas and our 3 course dinner was delicious and she only had a few hours... More

We have stayed a number of times with Ginette and Remi over the years and we always find it very difficult to leave after being thoroughly spoilt by our wonderful hosts. As there are only 4 guest rooms the service is personalised, warm and welcoming and a wealth of local knowledge and tips help to plan your day's touring. Guest... More

Glencoe Rural Retreat is absolutely charming! Would fully recommend staying there as a base to explore Burnie (1/2 hr), Devonport (45mins), Stanley ( 2 hours)or even Cradle Mountain (1 hr). Do choose the dinner option with your stay, as it would be the best dinner you could have in that part of town, prepared by the hostess Ginette personally and... More

We were after a french fix & Glencoe didn't disappoint. With its lush setting, it could easily have been in an idyllic part of Normandy! Glencoe is a character country residence with a warm & generous host in Ginette. The meals on both nights were tasty & authentic & we enjoyed the conversation with Ginette about our shared experiences in... More

Glencoe is run by the very likeable and capable Ginette who lavishes on guests the freshest provender from the substantial potager in her garden in which we happily relaxed amongst the flowers. At dinner we enjoyed perfect potatoes, French beans, courgettes, tomatoes and herbs straight from garden to table. Outstanding! Our lovely room, one of just four, was spacious, light,... More

Glencoe lives up to its reputation as an amazing getaway. The location is beautiful and gives easy access to Tassies natural wonders. The hosts are welcoming and friendly and the meals served are all five star quality. For dinner we were treated to 3 courses of local Tasmanian produce, veggies picked straight from the garden. The rooms were exquisite and... More
