I commend Hotel Alejandro for turning a 100 years house into a mini photo museum where guests could have a glimpse of what life was during WW2. The place is cozy and the staff are friendly. The hotel is also situated right in the heart of Tacloban City thus other tourist sites are very accessible.

The hotel’s facade immediately tells its guests that it has history attached to it. The well-maintained entrance to Hotel Alejandro is the original house and one will see old furnitures and photos along the way. It stands in the middle of a u-shaped modern building which is the hotel. The nicely furnished rooms as well as the toilet & bath are clean and spacious and furnished. The hotel’s only restaurant serves good food as well.

The chance to stay for a night in Hotel Alejandro is something one who is visiting the city of Tacloban must grab. Almost every inch of the hotel makes one feel like one is re-living history in the time of World War II. One cannot help but appreciate the historical ambiance of the fine architecture of the hotel itself, whose foyer is the original house of the Alejandro family, with the walls adorned with framed photos of Douglas MacArthur and General Yamashita and various scenery and personages of that era, with memorabilia adorning every nook and cranny in a tasteful manner. The elegant spiral staircase going through each floor of the hotel is elegance itself (there is an elevator service, though, so don’t worry). The staff are courteous and attentive and helpful. The breakfast buffet that greet’s one’s morning doesn’t disappoint, either. All in all, despite its age, Hotel Alejandro is one hotel I would not mind staying in again when I come back to Tacloban.

Affordable price, huge room, very neat and relaxing. Indeed, the display of various photos of world war 2 in its gallery room bring backs the memories of the city several years back. It's as if you've been toured within the city without living the place. I highly recommend this place for everyone to stay in case you visit Tacloban City. Five stars for this hotel.

Serious safety incident
We stayed here when my sister was christening her son. To make the story short, my cousin was MOLESTED while she was in an elevator going to our room. It was a foreigner who did it, it was like 9ish pm when it happened and DON’T even ask what she was WEARING. She is at PAIN and the experience left her with trauma. It’s funny because the hotel ASKED US not to say anything nor didn’t want for us to see the webcam record of it. We didn’t sued the foreigner because we were scheduled to go home the day after. Again, IF YOU WANT TO BE SAFE, check in someplace else. So many good hotels around tacloban, you’ll not miss this.

We had a good stay and they served us variety of palatable food. The frames that we saw on the wall are very informative if you are curious with past events such as the famous "I shall return" of Gen.Douglas MacArthur. Overall I can recommend this place for seminar venues.

Since 2013 I’ve visited Tacloban maybe 100 times and more than 75% of the nights I’ve spent in the city have been spent in Hotel Alejandro. It’s quality comfort that is extremely affordable whether you get the executive suite (I love room 306) or standard rooms. And the kitchen cooks a mean Filipino buffet breakfast! And if you’re into history the circa 1920s/1930s front part of the hotel has something for you in its photo exhibit!

This was the second time I stayed in this hotel...only because thefirst one was a good experience. After 6 years and after the Yolanda Tradegy in Tacloban, its seems that the Hotel has moved on and recovered...however, no structural difference was noticeable, its the service and the amenities of the hotel that was off. TV channels were not working, no telephone inside the hotel room, clogged bathroom drain (takes a while for floor drain to disappear and noisy airconditioner. Well, I thought they have recovered, but I guess they have't!😔
