Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here whilst walking the coastal section of the Cleveland Way. Received a warm reception from owner Stewart and was a lovely surprise when he showed us to our accommodation of a little self contained ground floor flat. It was very clean and had everything we needed with smart TV, WiFi, a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a cosy lounge, all decorated with antique furniture. There was even a a small yard at the front with pot plants and a table and chairs to sit outside in the fresh air. We were already aware that we would be required to cook our own breakfast which was not a problem and a lovely selection of ingredients were all laid out for us on arrival including a huge bowl of fruit, cereals, yogurts, a loaf, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs and a platter of continental meats and cheese. It was great with enough ingredients for breakfast and packed lunches. We were only sorry that we had just a one night here as part of our walking itinerary. The flat would be a great base for a longer break to get out and see the area surrounding Saltburn. It was only a short walk from the train station, the seafront and the town and has on street parking outside. Once Stewart had shown us around our accommodation he left us to settle in and enjoy our stay however he was available next door should we need anything and was very approachable. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the house opposite the guest house it was really nice and clean . It contained 2 bedrooms , living room, kitchen and bathroom . Our hosts were really friendly and left us a fabulous DIY breakfast in the fridge to accommodate either a full English breakfast or a continental breakfast along with cereals

Stopped over here for one night on our Cleveland Way walk. We stayed in the old corner shop apartment which was cosy and well appointed. The hosts provided plenty of food for our diy breakfast and went out of their way to endure it was veggie friendly. The apartment is filled with antiques for a retro feel. Bathroom is quite small and the outer door has a bit of a gap around it, which I imagine would be chilly if you were staying in cold weather! We would recommend

Located in an attached separate building next to the Guest House, this accommodation exceeded all my expectations!. Spacious clean nicely decorated bathroom with shower, very comfortable double bed, and fully stocked kitchen with just about anything a guest might want. You name it and Stuart your host has provided it: frig with plate of cheese and meats, orange juice, yogurt, and a pitcher of milk. A loaf of bread, butter dish, a bowl with eggs, tomatoes, and mushrooms. A candy dish and a bowl with fresh fruits. And of course a toaster and all sorts of utensils and cooking supplies. What a special place, with personal touches to make you feel right at home.

We had our own spacious apartment across the road from the main guesthouse (due to Covid regulations) and, as others have said, Sue provided a very generous amount of food for our DIY breakfast. An added bonus was a washing machine and drying rack so we had fragrant socks for the rest of our walk! Sue could not have been more helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

We loved this place, it is beautifully furnished and comfortable and our hosts were so welcoming. We had our own mini apartment and lots of lovely food supplied, for DIY breakfast and snacks. It was spotless, comfy and had everything you could want for comfort. Brilliant !

We stayed here for a night while walking the Cleveland Way. The room was great, and (I think because of Covid) the breakfast was a DIY cooked breakfast which was sumptuous. I'd recommend it. Pleased with the accommodation.

Very friendly hosts with antiques everywhere. A step back in time. We stayed whilst walking the Cleveland Way and we were looked after with a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast with all the trimmings. The only minus was the bathroom as it was small, but didn’t spoil our stay

We stumbled upon this gem by chance and we are so glad we did. We were a very last minute booking, literally calling the guesthouse 5 minutes before we turned up on their doorstep. The lovely lady in charge was very welcoming and didn't seem at all fazed by last minute arrivals. She showed us up to a lovely room on the very top floor of the guest house, explained the WIFI, took our orders for breakfast and even provided us with a jug of fresh milk so we could make our own hot drinks. The room was a good size, nice big, comfortable bed, ensuite with shower, plenty of storage if you were to stay for more than the night we were there for. The lady in charge (I'm terrible with names, I do apologise) was even kind enough to offer my other half a whisky, he is a bit of a whisky snob so declined the invitation but I thought it was lovely of her to ask. Breakfast was an unexpected delight! We started with melon and strawberries with a choice of yogurts and cereal. A large pot of coffee was brought through to us and before too long we had our breakfast, fresh sourdough toast, bacon, sausages, beans, mushrooms, fried egg etc, one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in a long time. If we were to find ourselves in the area again we would most definitely stay here again!

We stayed here after giving up on walking the Cleveland Way. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious with fresh melon as well as the usual full English or a lighter option of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
