I have visited the Whistledown many times for bar snacks and lunch when working in Warrenpoint and have also visited the Bistro at weekends with friends. I just love it! I find the decor trendy and welcoming, food superb and staff really friendly. My lunch always arrives very well presented and is delicious. Some restaurants just don't put effort into... More

Myself and my family stayed at the Whistledown hotel for a long weekend for a family birthday. The hotel was lovely decorated, clean and tidy. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was full of variety and i enjoyed fruit salad, followed by scones and cook breakfast with my choice of... I can't rate the whistledown as a hotel as we stayed down the road, but we just had dinner there and it was poor. Nice atmosphere, decor and staff, but appalling food which left us feeling like crap. There's a huge selection in terms of the menu, and the starter in fairness was decent (tiger prawns). I had cod for... More

My husband and I stayed at the Whistledown last weekend and we were both delightfully surprised at the high standard of accommodation, food, and staff. We stayed in a suite overlooking the mountains and Lough and the views were simply stunning. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and the staff were very professional, warm and friendly. We thought it was great... More

We needed a place for an overnight stay in Warrenpoint and as there really isn't much of a choice we unfortunately selected the Whistledown. Upon arrival we were impressed with the frontage and the interior was nice too. The lady at reception was efficient and pleasant without being too friendly. Our room was on the 1st floor and was quite... More

To be fair the Whistledown is a "pretty" hotel, it seems no expense has been spared on the decor, but when it comes to the little things it all adds up to a disaster. Firstly, the pillows were really thin, we had to prop them up with the scatter cushions. The bed was 2 singles joined together. The duvet was... More

We stayed at the Whistledown a few years ago and had a good experience. This time we went back to eat in the restaurant with our two children. It was mothers day and the restaurant was busy but the staff were very attentive towards our two children and they even had a highchair ready for our youngest. The menu had... More

I first dropped into the Whistle down xmas 2011 to ask for directions up to Santa's Cottage in Mourne Mountains. The hotel staff were so nice and helpful even going so far as to print me off a map to show me the way that I made the decision then and there to stay the following christmas rather than drive...
