I had not much expectation when we booke din after readin many bad reviwes, but we had a very nice stay at the hotel in Jauay 2013 after all. It is true that the hotel is a bit outdated and slighly shabby, the rooms need an upgrade and the pool chairs are grey. We had a room with tile floors... More

This hotel is truly dreadful and a health hazard to their guests. Whilst the reception area and restaurant are reasonable, the bedrooms are probably the worst in Sri Lanka. This hotel should be closed down by the Sri Lanka Tourist Authority until the bedrooms, corridors, bathrooms and toilets have been completely rebuilt. The management of this hotel should also be... To add to what has been said already, the fabric of the building showed water penetration, as there was mould growing in various places in the corridors. The bedroom blocks had clearly had no maintenance on them since the day they were built, about 15 to 20 years ago. There are also dangerous steps on staircases such that two of... More

We arrived for one night (thank goodness) at this hotel as part of a group. I cannot imagine what our tour organiser (Naturetrek) was thinking when they booked this for us. As has been said elsewhere, the façade is amazing. But looks can be deceiving. The room was terrible. The bath enamel looked badly stained but this turned out to... More

Approaching this hotel the reception areas seem to herald a modern luxury hotel but below stairs oh dear! The room I was allocated smelt damp and was dirty. The sink was not attached to the wall and wobbled dangerously, The stylish floor mounted lamp would have worked better if t had had a plug fitted, The bed had been made... More

Your first impression of this hotel could be very positive as the public rooms are well-appointed and stylish, and the staff charming and helpful, but when you look at the bedrooms it's an entirely different story. The first room I was allocated was in the basement, with damp walls, a scruffy, dirty, torn carpet, blocked sink and dirty bathroom with... More

What is it that makes some trip advisors want to condemn it? I might suggest that despite really charming and helpful staff, very attractive reception areas, a lovely approach, this hotel is simply dreadful. So I agree with previous comments. The manager needs replacing very quickly, the rooms are a total health hazard, if you are not electrocuted, repelled by... More

We had stayed at this resort on a previous trip some years ago. This is a large resort set among tea plantations and close to gem mines. We were given a drink on arrival. After check-in we were taken to a large room on the first floor with a view over the river and a neighbouring tea plantation. The ensuite... More

Set in a rural (but not necessary quiet) location well outside Ratnapura. We had a very big room with a big balcony looking out over the river. Everything was OK but the whole place was rather faded and in need of some investment (e.g. the bath was large but scratched, and the white plastic pool chairs were rather grey). The... More

It proved worth the price. There was hardly anything to complain about. We had a group of three people during our tour to Srilanka. I believe there Ratnaloka was a nice stop for us in Kahangama. Our experience was in all average. The people on the job were very helpful and friendly that was certainly a thing to mention.
